Photographic Works, 1999 – 2008

Brigitt Bürgi’s photographic works begin in the setting of a staged installation. Through the use of reflecting or transparent materials and the deliberate control of photographic parameters such as light, focus and choice of detail, the artist breaks the reality of these spaces and gives them a new substantiality.

Single pictures covering a certain theme, are assembled to a serie, which so depicts a process and a story by itself.

Brigitt Bürgi's pictures create an area of tension between truth and illusion, between reality and dream, between structure and transformability.
